What is FUNctional Yoga?
The modern yoga can be very shape-oriented and repetitive, forgetting about how the body naturally works and moves.
Functional yoga makes the practice more useful for everyday life – in all aspects. It focuses more on mobility and strength, instead of extreme flexibility. It focuses on synergistic muscle activation, instead of bone-based alignment which is outdated and makes no sense for all the different types of bodies. It opens up to the full potential of movement, and removes a lot of unjustified fear.
It also shows how the spiritual aspect of yoga can be more practical. In my classes and workshops, you will learn how to incorporate small changes into your practice, that will have a huge impact on your body and mind. But most of all, you will have FUN doing it, because it’s time to take the seriousness and fear out of this amazing practice!
My approach to teaching yoga
I’ve been teaching yoga since 2016, and like many teachers, I began with traditional training in India. Over the years, my understanding of yoga — and of the human body — has evolved deeply.
Through continuous learning and working with a wide range of students, I realized that much of modern yoga can be limiting, overly rigid, or disconnected from real life. My teaching focuses on movement that is adaptable, functional, and supportive — physically, emotionally, and mentally.
I believe everything we do on the yoga mat needs to be useful for our lives off the mat, both physically and psychologically.
